Need a few gift ideas for yourself or your friends? How about tennis rackets and tennis balls? Or have you jumped on the pickleball bandwagon? Grab paddles and balls for that too, and head to the new courts at Kamper Park in Hattiesburg!
About the new courts at Kamper Park
As you know, the 40-acre Kamper Park is also home to the Hattiesburg Zoo, baseball fields, an exercise and walking area and four covered pavilions. And now, it is home to the newly rededicated Bubba Phillips Tennis Complex.
In fact, last month, city officials, Hattiesburg Parks and Recreation staff and community members gathered together for an official ribbon cutting and ceremony for the new courts at Kamper Park. The brand-new tennis and pickleball courts are made with 340,000 pounds of steel and concrete, according to reports.
Hence, the new courts at Kamper Park are championship-grade, featuring 40 new LED lights for superior foot-candle coverage of the courts. In other words, the light intensity per square foot is really good and covers a lot of ground. But that’s not all!
More about the new courts
Along with new and improved lighting, the tennis and pickleball courts have new netting and poles, plus ADA-accessible ramps, to finish off the design and upgrades.
What’s more, the courts are open seven days a week, from sunrise until 10 p.m. They are free and open to the public, but court availability is first-come, first-served.
Location
To burn off some of those extra holiday calories, serve up some outdoor fun and exercise at Kamper Park, located at 107 S. 17th Ave.
Did you know the park is only about two miles from Point O’Woods Apartments? That means you can hit the court after about a nine-minute drive!
